FOWA Summary

jeff / 05.Oct.2007

I’m just returning home from the Future of Web Apps, London. I got to meet some amazing people and I got to spend some time away from the office gathering ideas for YikeSite. The thing that excites me most about these kind of events is getting to see people in the web application space speak in person – to hear successes and failures – all in the spirit of learning from one another.

The company who put on the conference, Carsonified, will no doubt post their free MP3s just as they have with past events. If you haven’t had a chance to listen, you’d better take a look if you’re interested in web applications.

Being there and taking the temperature of what is happening with web-apps was further validation that what we’re doing with YikeSite is a good thing. So, back to work I guess and stay tuned for new YikeSite stuff!

FOWA was a very international event. After the conference I went out for dinner with Piyush Goel (India), Ian Morgan (UK), Geoffrey Grosenbach (US), Mokoto Inoue (Japan). And of couse me from Canada. Some of those chaps show up in the following photos. Also had some good discussion with Ryan Carson and got to snap a pic with him (above).

Hi Jeff, thanks for the photo shoot~ glad you got back to Canada ok and your first experience of the UK was, at least, interesting! Was really great to chat with you at fowa n keep up the good work with yikesite, i’ll look forward to talking to you in the future.

Hey Jeff, I knew I should have stood up on a podium or something before the photo :) It was great meeting you at the conference and having productive chats over dinners. Hope to get a chance to see you in or around your home town sometime, until then good luck with YikeSite.

I’m jealous! I haven’t been to any conferences since the glory days of the “dot com” bubble!

Mingling ftw!
